On Monday October 2nd we focus on circus residencies in Germany and the relationship between artist and presenter as well as the role of artist residency as part of it.
One of the themes of this year’s Samovar Circles’ network activities, has been exploring the relationships between artists and presenters (curators) and interrogating if there are more ethical ways of creating and foresting these relationships.
During the Spring 2023 Finnish circus artist Vilhelmiina Sinervo took part in a residency programme in Germany that is unique in its form. At the invitation of the Goethe-Institut Munich and Helsinki, the Finnish Institute Berlin, Circus & Dance Info Finland and the Federal Association of Contemporary Circus BUZZ, Sinervo traveled through Germany for almost six weeks and network with local circus makers to share her research on her project Tonton.

Samovar Circles is a short term network (2021–2023) initiated and organised by Subtopia (Sweden), Circus & Dance Info Finland (Finland), Teatronas (Lithuania) and New Theatre Institute of Latvia (Latvia).
