We are now expanding the possibilities to apply for this summer’s Artist in Residence and extending the application deadline to March 16!
BORKHULT LAPPHEM is a cultural house in the countryside, located in the forests of Östergötland, Sweden, far away from everything, with nature right at the doorstep. The house, built in the late 1800s, is surrounded by a wild garden frequently visited by guests of the guesthouse and waffle café. Concerts and performances are arranged on the stage during the summer.
When our artists in residence stay with us, we want to give them the opportunity to create, explore, and deepen their artistic practice in peace and quiet. With inspiration from the area, the forest, the lakes, the buildings, the neighbors, and the history, our artist in residence has the chance to further develop their artistry.
We have an ongoing three-year project called “Finding New Paths”, and it is welcome as a theme to follow and continue working with. One of our goals is for art to come close to our visitors and for artistic exploration to meet an audience. Our hope is that the visitors who come to us—at the café and the guesthouse—will get to experience the artistic process and meet you as a clown in your exploratory work.
We would be happy for you to spend time in the garden and café during our opening hours and to be open to conversations with guests and curious visitors. Perhaps a new work will grow from the theme “Finding New Paths”, or you may find the time and inspiration to develop your clown character—or even discover a new one.
VAD VI KAN ERBJUDA DIG!
En (1) person som under tre veckor, under perioden vecka 28-32, rör sig i vår trädgård och i våra skogar. Här finns det ingen blackbox eller traditionell repstudio. Hos oss hittar du dina egna favoritplatser utomhus, du testar, improviserar, fördjupar och rör dig i, och med, naturen.
Under din vistelse hos oss kommer du också ha möjlighet att använda vår kajak, umgås med våra hundar och katter, bada bastu och vi ska förstås se till att du presenteras för konstnärerna i området och andra personer som kan vara av intresse för din konst och ditt nätverk.
Du bor i vår vindsateljé. Ett stort rum på ca 120 kvm, med ganska lågt i tak (200 cm) och snedtak. Du bor enkelt, med kök, kallvatten och toalett. Varmvatten, dusch och tvättmaskin finns i samma byggnad. Vi rekommenderar förstås ett morgondopp i dammen och ett kvällsdopp i gläntan.
• Du får ett arvode på 36 000 kr + moms för alla tre veckor samt ett besökstillfälle.
• F-skatt är ett krav eller om du kan fakturera via ex Frilans Finans.
• Du bekostar dina egna resor till och från Borkhult samt eventuella inköpsresor.
• Vissa middagar under residensperioden bjuder Lapphem Borkhult på men annars lagar du din egen mat och gör dina egna inköp därför är det fördelaktigt att du har körkort och egen bil. Annars är det kollektivtrafik som gäller.
VEM KAN SÖKA?
• Du ska vara yrkesverksam eller studerande inom clown och/eller mim.
ANSÖKAN OCH URVALSPROCESS
Ansökan ska vara på max tre A4 och innehålla en presentation av dig samt CV med utbildningar och yrkeslivserfarenhet. Vi vill gärna att du beskriver en eller flera idéer om hur du vill undersöka och fördjupa ditt konstnärsskap i Borkhult i sommar.
