GRUND1535 and Positive Futures Festival (PFF) announce an open call for artists working at the intersection of sound, voice, and performance to apply for a residency in Tyrol, Austria, taking place from 1–26 October 2026.
The residency is hosted at GRUND1535, a historic farmhouse in the village of Rietz, located on the outskirts of Innsbruck. GRUND1535 is a space for artistic and philosophical research, experimental practice and interdisciplinary exchange.
The residency is developed in collaboration with the Positive Futures Festival – Festival for Outernational Music, taking place in October 2026 across various locations in Innsbruck. PFF offers a platform to underrepresented artists from diverse musical practices, countries and cultural contexts.
The residency invites artistic practices that explore how sound, voice, language and body operate across and beyond perceived boundaries. It is particularly interested in practices that explore how meaning emerges between semantics, syntax and acoustic materiality. The theme is open to individual interpretation.
The residency invites one sound/performative artist for a short term residency. During this time, the selected artist is encouraged to:
- develop/work on an individual artistic project
- present a live performance as part of the Positive Futures Festival 2026 in Innsbruck
- host a public format such as a workshop, lecture or artist talk in Rietz, addressing the local community, and in Innsbruck, within the framework of the festival
Support includes:
- Artist fee of 1,000 EUR
- Accommodation at GRUND1535 (Rietz, Tyrol)
- Travel allowance of up to 600 EUR + VVT Tyrol public transport ticket for the residency period
Deadline: 30 April 2026
