Kauri Honkakoski Company KELLARI [BASEMENT]

A portrait of stagnating humanity.

In the existential bunker of a basement there lives a lonely figure. It is too late to do anything. There is no place to escape to. Something has been destroyed here. Dreams flying by, sleepless moments tormented by intrusive visions, memories carving grooves in the floor for tripping over.

Kauri Honkakoski’s solo piece digs up physical echoes from the basement of the mind. There live our secret obsessions and deeply rooted nightmares. From the basement arise our dearest fears and our most naive desires.

The tragicomic BASEMENT [KELLARI] continues the strong series of work by the award winning Kauri Honkakoski Company. The recognizable handprint of the creative team has been refined over ten years of collaboration: weaving together precise physical expression, visual symbolism and atmospheric sound design, it leaves room for the audience’s personal interpretation. The Company’s previous shows, highly acclaimed HINTERLAND and THE DESK sold out quickly.
