Vuelta Flamenco Company’s debut work, Fe, explores the human relationship to faith and love as flamenco and centuries-old texts by Rumi come together to pursue a shared understanding through dance, music, and spoken word poetry.
“You have seen my descent, now watch my rising.”
-Rumi
What do we believe in? In the sacred? In a higher power? In money? Love? Hatred? Ourselves? Nothing at all? Vuelta Flamenco Company’s debut work, Fe, explores the human relationship to faith and love through flamenco and spoken word.
Fe (Spanish for faith) draws inspiration from the writings of the 13th century Persian theologian and poet Rumi. In Fe the conscious and the unconscious meet, connecting us to something higher, something untouchable through the flow of movement.
Rumi’s worldview seeks to explain this mystery with the words Fana and Baqa, whereas flamenco seeks to find duende – that which cannot be explained or seen, only felt.
In Fe, flamenco and centuries-old texts come together to pursue a shared understanding through dance, music, and spoken word poetry.
