Routa Company is a production house for contemporary dance, based in Kajaani, Finland. Routa’s mission is to produce, develop and make multi-faceted and personal dance art. Routa was founded in 2002 and has been awarded The Dance Fame Award in 2010 and 2021 from the Union of Dance and Circus Artists of Finland. Routa is part of the Finnish Network of Regional Dance Centres, and the lively art community of Kajaani.
Routa’s core features are producing and making dance performances, curating a viable guest performance program, running an international artist residency program and engaging the local people by producing communal art experiences and familiarising them with dance art through workshops.
Sari Palmgren is working as Artistic Director at Routa Company. She graduated with a master degree from the Theatre Academy of Finland, Department of dance in 2004. Since then she has been working with stage works, immersive and site specific works, theatre, different social choreography projects and dance films.
