A Ballad of Biodiversity Loss
Last Dance exudes emotion and nostalgia. The playlist includes hits from recent decades, and the movement expands from ballads to pulsating rhythms. The piece flows into the audience’s embrace and spine, full of tentative feelings of infatuation, the first steps of pairing up, and the nostalgia of youth.
Last Dance is also a ballad about biodiversity loss. The symbioses in nature, species that depend on each other, are in danger. The performance serves as a reminder of the impermanence of everything, of the last shared dance.
