Circus & Theatre Association Aura Company is organising a charity circus gala, all proceeds of which will go to Free Gaza Circus. Circus artists taking part in the gala include Jani Suihkonen, Elsa Pakkasvirta, Sampo Kurppa, Hanna Närhisalo, Markus Nivala, Eszter Bako and Heikki Tolin.
Circus & Theatre Association Aura Company is organising a charity circus gala on Sat 16.11 at 19:00, with all proceeds going to Free Gaza Circus. The charity gala will feature professional circus artists. Circus artists taking part include Jani Suihkonen, Elsa Pakkasvirta, Sampo Kurppa, Hanna Närhisalo, Markus Nivala, Eszter Bako and Heikki Tolin.
Free Gaza Circus was founded in 2018 and since then it has provided circus performances and circus education to thousands of children in Gaza. In October 2023, Free Gaza Circus was forced to leave its circus space due to the war. However, amidst the bombing, Free Gaza Circus has continued its work touring refugee camps and shelters with its shows and other circus activities. In this way, it has sought to alleviate the suffering and grief of children. Recently, Free Gaza Circus has experienced many losses, but despite these adversities, it has continued to provide circus services on a voluntary basis to children and young people in difficult circumstances. “Our aim is to comfort children from the harsh realities they face, and to spread hope and joy,” says Mohammed Khader, founder of Free Gaza Circus.
Aura Company was also founded in 2018 and operates extensively in the Turku region as a promoter and developer of circus arts. Through our own teaching and performance activities, Aura Company knows what circus can mean to children who experience it. By organising the Free Gaza Circus charity gala, Aura Company wants to show its solidarity with a vulnerable circus performer in Gaza who spreads joy and hope to children in the midst of war.
The gala will also provide direct access to Mohammed Khader, founder of the Free Gaza Circus organisation in Gaza, who will talk about the current situation in Gaza.
Tickets: from €25 to €100 (the price of the ticket can be decided by the ticket buyer, but the minimum is €25)
Tickets can be booked by emailing (it is advisable to book in advance as there may not be any left at the door). Tickets are payable on the spot either in cash or by card. All ticket proceeds will be forwarded via PayPal directly to the Free Gaza Circus.
