Tove Ekman, a seasoned expert and manager in the cultural sector, has taken over as the next director of Circus & Dance Info Finland.
Circus & Dance Info Finland got a new director after Sanna Rekola retired after 20 years of service. The new director Tove Ekman has an extensive background in the cultural and educational sector in Finland and abroad.
“International, especially Nordic, cooperation has been a kind of cross-cutting theme in everything I have done,” Ekman says. From 2015 to 2022 she worked as the director of the Finnish Cultural and Academic Institutes and gained valuable experience about promoting international mobility, visibility and cooperation of organizations and individuals working in arts and culture.
Tove, what are your expectations towards your new position? What can we expect from you?
I must admit I do have great expectations! I expect the job to be demanding in many ways, but at the same time very rewarding and interesting. On a personal level, I very much look forward to getting to know the individual artists and institutions in the fields of circus and dance and learning as much as possible about their artistic work and circumstances. And of course I look forward to experiencing a lot of circus and dance.
You can expect me to make a great effort to facilitate the development of Finnish circus and dance, and to bring in new ideas and networks nationally and internationally. I hope you will find me easy to approach and open to new ideas.
As I see it, the role of Circus and Dance Info Finland is to enable the fields of circus and dance to reach their full potential and take a much greater role in society.
