EVENINGS PROGRAM
Markku Essel: Speakers
Speakers is a sound installation that acknowledges the meta-level inevitable impossibilities in writing / performing / explaining dialogue.
Script, execution: Markku Essel
Speakers: Don McCracken and Kati Raatikainen
Pauliina Latva: Ritual of Now
Ritual of Now is Pauliina Latva’s moving exploration of presence – as a ritual that happens here and now. The work invites the audience into a unique, shared moment that is recreated in each performance.
“For me, as a dance artist, pedagogue and yogi, presence is the basis of everything. Each moment is unique, and returning to it is an ongoing practice – a process in which one is never finished. Ritual of Now is an ode to the fact that reality only happens in the present moment, whether shared or not. But the significance of the shared moment is heightened because it creates a connection between people.”
The work is a personal journey that combines individual and shared presence. Body-oriented and multi-sensory, the work explores a meditative space where encountering and being seen are shared experiences. This moment creates a connection between the performer and the audience. Ritual of Now invites one to stop, breathe and surrender to dance – as a ritual of movement and presence.
Mari Kortelainen: Paper boggart
The paper boggart is an installation that moves in space. In the work, mutable combinations of paper material, sound and movement constantly vary one another. Is the boggart alone or with someone?
Choreography, scenography and performing– Mari Kortelainen
