The CircusDanceFestival in Cologne will present two artists and a circus short film originating in Finland in this year’s programme. Circus & Dance Info Finland will also be present at the festival. Our personnel will be joined with an entourage of circus and dance artists on a networking trip.
In the 6th edition of the CircusDanceFestival, the focus is on the diversity of expression in contemporary circus, dance and performance. The programme for professionals includes an European Conference on Mental Health and Well-being in the Circus and Performing Arts Sector. The festival takes place during June 6–8 in Cologne, Germany.
The festival presents two Finnish circus artists: Aapo Honkanen’s solo on Roue Cyr titled My Head Is Heavy and It Hurts and Sirje Tolonen’s hoop solo titled Chainsaw Princess. Both will be performed in the 360° Shorts programme. The international short film programme presents Antti Suniala’s short film Walls Beneath Our Feet produced by Suniala and the Race Horse Company in 2022.
During the festival visit, Circus & Dance Info’s Lotta Nevalainen and Petra Hannus will be accompanied by dance artist Hanna Kahrola, dance and circus artist Heidi Miikki, circus artists Jenny Mansikkasalo and artist and producer Antti Suniala. In addition to participation in the festival, the networking trip also takes them to visit other Cologne venues, like TanzFaktur and the Creation Centre Contemporary Circus / CCCC .
