Blind Gut Company Umbra

Circus and video art performance Umbra transforms the shadowy space beneath the bridge into a pulsating stage of light and movement

Umbra is a unique blend of circus, video art, and music lights up an October evening beneath the bridge. Glowing juggling sticks cut through the air, light bends beneath the feet of a tightrope walker, and a spinning spiral rises skyward. Videos run through the bridge’s structure, while raw yet tender electronic music wraps the audience in a trembling embrace. The performance makes a journey from flicker and noise into the quiet dusk of slow thoughts.

The piece extends into the surrounding space as a video and light installation. Multi-projector video mapping brings the underside of the bridge and its raw architecture to life, weaving them into the fabric of the performance.

The performance is part of the City of Helsinki’s Kalasatama environmental art project.
