Mustien kukkien rauha (The Peace of the Black Flowers) tells the story of the female poet Katri Vala, her passionate life and slow death. The work combines contemporary puppet theater, dance and audiovisual storytelling.
Mustien kukkien rauha depicts a woman’s metamorphosis, which arises equally from internal pressure and external inevitability. She blossoms, ripens, and withers, shines under the gaze of others, and retreats into her cocoon. Her body changes shape — it wilts into blood and skin and is reborn in brutal and glorious transformations.
The performance combines strong physicality and visual illusions, the wonders of puppet theater.
