Circus Day in Savonlinna is a park event featuring an open circus workshop and a circus performance. Suitable for all ages and requires no prior experience.
Circus Day in Savonlinna!
Following last year’s success, Circus Day returns!
The event originated from World Circus Day, and this spring it will be held at Joel Lehtonen Park on Saturday 16 May 2026.
Come and experience circus in an open and accessible way!
During the day, you can try different circus disciplines in an open workshop from 12.00 to 14.15.
Activities include juggling, floor, partner and group acrobatics, as well as slackline.
The workshop is suitable for all ages and requires no prior experience.
The instructors are circus artists Mia Silvennoinen and Mikko Karjalainen, together with sports instructor (BA in Sports Studies) Riina Lievonen.
The event ends with a circus performance by Musirca circus group starting at 14.30, featuring aerial acrobatics and live music (approx. 15 min).
The event is also part of the Sirkus tulee! campaign, organized by Circus & Dance Finland. The campaign aims to make contemporary circus more familiar in Finland and to inspire new audiences to explore circus arts.
As part of the campaign, we take part in the #kuperkeikkahaaste (somersault challenge) and invite everyone who wishes to join: to do a somersault in their own style, film it, and share it on social media using the hashtags #kuperkeikkahaaste and #sirkustulee – and challenge others to join in as well!
Weather reservation: in case of bad weather, the event will be rescheduled to Sunday 17 May or another later date to be announced.
The event is part of the Cultural Pop-Ups of Savonlinna’s Cultural Dream Year 2026 project.
