Orange is a dance performance aimed at everyone, but especially at children aged 3–9 and their parents. Choreographer Taneli Törmä draws inspiration from human connection, touch, and relationships.
The performance draws its inspiration from Reidar Särestöniemi’s painting *Prohibition and Longing* (1967). The painting depicts two bears embracing in an orange field. The work is playful and compassionate—the color orange may symbolize shared connection, understanding, and respect for others. Preparation for the performance began at the Hiljaisuus residency in the village of Kaukonen in August 2024, and the work premiered at the Särestöniemi Museum in August 2025; that same year, the performance was part of the Reidar100 anniversary program.
The performance is part of the “Save Tanssivintti” fundraising campaign. You can attend the performance by purchasing a “support price” ticket for €30 or a “pay what you can” ticket from the Tanssivintti online store: https://www.tanssivintti.net/store
