Representatives of architecture, urban planning and the performing arts are joining forces in an unprecedented project focusing on art, Oulu citizens, urban landscapes and human heritage!
In late May and early June 2026, the three-year project “Climbing over Oulu,” part of Oulu’s European Capital of Culture year, will continue in Oulu. It is being carried out by the French company Le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde in collaboration with Flow Productions.
Climbing over Oulu is a three-year collaborative project involving local and international musicians, circus artists, and architects, engaging the people of Oulu. The artists invite city residents to join them in organizing city walks, workshops, site-specific pop-up events, and performances.
The collaboration culminates in a stage production created by the artists over the course of three years, premiering on June 5, 2026, at 19:00 at Cultural Centre Valve.
Schedules and details for the pop-up events and urban walks can be found on Flow’s website.
Climbing over Oulu is part of the Oulu2026 cultural programme and cultural climate change. Oulu will be the European Capital of Culture in 2026, together with 39 northern municipalities. World-class experiences from near, far and in between are on offer. Culture, art and diverse events will be experienced in cities, villages and nature. It is a multi-year journey that will culminate in 2026.
