Favela Vera Ortiz Figure Solaire

FIGURE SOLAIRE refers to a figure which carries both an inner core and something greater than itself. It is an archetype, a memory and an energy repeating and transforming the boundaries of self. The work does not represent the sun, but the traces that such a force leaves – on the body, on space and on movement. Each performance utilizes the unique landscape of the place and creates an interactive experience for the audience.

Favela Vera Ortiz is known for her works that challenge the boundaries of contemporary dance on stages, in galleries, museums and urban spaces. Her strongly visual works often explore the human relationship with space, memory and energy. FIGURE SOLAIRE continues this line, offering the viewer the opportunity to experience dance in an urban environment.
