Manifesti Festival Turku Youth Company: BYEBYE-product & Live, Laugh, Love

Choreographed by Sara Europaeus for Turku Youth Company, BYEBYE-product reflects on byproducts—how one thing happens as a consequence of another. This contemporary dance piece is the dancers’ journey into an internal dialogue with themselves; it overthinks, repeats, resonates, surrenders, and explores. At its core are human sensitivity to the environment, the echo of past events, longing, and the pursuit of peace.

Sara Europaeus is an Amsterdam-based dance and film artist who works as a performer, choreographer, movement director, rehearsal director, teacher, and collaborator with other artists. Her interests focus on the embodiments of life echoing within the body. Sara explores the spectrum of physicality fueled by imagination, and her works feature recurring themes of selective self-definition, deep reality and deeper myth, and processes of radical empathy.

Live, Laugh, Love is a choreography for two dancers by Suvi Nieminen. Suvi Nieminen has founded the Turku Youth Company in Turku for young people transitioning from the amateur field to professional status, allowing those growing into the profession to work alongside professionals right from the start of their careers.

Turku-based dance artist Suvi Nieminen has worked as a dancer for 12 years on the independent dance scene across both domestic and international stages. Nieminen has collaborated with companies such as Kinetic Orchestra, Susanna Leinonen, Pori Dance Company, Aurinkobaletti, and the Finnish National Opera.

Nieminen has also worked extensively with art organizations in the Turku region, collaborating with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Barker Theatre, Regional Dance Centre of Western Finland, Wäinö Aaltonen Museum (WAM), and the Sibelius Museum, among others.
