Re-membering / Grief unfolds as a solo performance and a video installation.
Fragility gathers itself into postures, forms seep out from beneath, slowly slipping downward.
Time bursts into visibility. Moments swarm within one another. Within the cells, knowing begins to blur.
Your knowing, my knowing. So much of myself in you.
Re-membering / Grief explores grief and remembering, lost realities, the layering of time, and loss. The solo is rooted in Jenna Broas’ personal experience of being alongside her mother’s memory illness. The video installation draws from the slow transformations of the earth and the entanglement of past and future.
The topography of grief expands into space – a single performer moves within subtly vibrating environments where the embodied silence of grief approaches.
The work is a collaboration between the artist duo Broas & Nyberg, sound artist Ville Aalto, lighting designer Sofia Palillo, and poet-dramaturg Milka Luhtaniemi. The texts of the work are co-written by Jenna Broas and Milka Luhtaniemi.
