RISA is an internationally awarded contemporary circus and dance company founded in 2018 by Helsinki based artists Riia Kivimäki and Saku Mäkelä. Together they have developed a highly distinctive movement language that seamlessly merges acrobatics and dance by listening to inner yearnings with the exploration of pushing physical limits.
Their work blurs genre boundaries by combining physical virtuosity with intense stage expression. Alongside acclaimed works like GLG and Only bones 2.0, RISA expands its practice through international collaboration with Canadian company Théâtre Incliné on their upcoming multidisciplinary co-production AINA (toujours).
