Dance Theatre Minimi is a Kuopio-based state funded professional dance theatre and multifaceted community of performing arts. Maria-stage of Kuopio City Theatre serves as the company’s home venue.
Dance Theatre Minimi was founded in 1991. Today Dance Theatre Minimi produces works that balance the interfaces of physical theatre, dance, circus and physical performing arts. Minimi employs freelancers and collaborates with dance companies, theatres and art organizations. Minimi improves the accessibility of art experiences with public space performances and functions as an active touring theatre.
Theatre Centre Finland gave Minimi an annual Theatre Achievement Price for pioneering activity in dance. The Association of Finnish Theatres selected Minimi as the ”Theatre of the year” in 2007. Taneli Törmä is the full-time artistic director of Dance Theatre Minimi as of 1.8.2024.
