The 4X, launched last year, returns to Raatikko, and now it's even bigger. At the end of May in Raatikko, there will be the 4X: Evening of Four Works, which showcases the latest programs from Aurinkobaletti, Minimi, Raatikko, and Rimpparemmi
4X includes four dance pieces as well as the Art Panel Discussion. The facilitation of the Art Panel will be led by theater director Jaakko Toivonen. Raatikko has invited cultural director Annukka Larkio, the managing director of the Hakunila International Association, Burhan Hamdon, and actor Hannes Mikkelsson as discussion guests.

AB Dance Company: Stayin’ Alive, choreography by Collectif ÈS
Which song, as an anthem, will bring you the joy to be part of a group and make you feel alive? Can a popular song become an anthem? Come and feel the good vibrations!
With Stayin’ Alive, Aurinkobaletti − AB Dance Company and the Collectif ÈS want to dig further into group dynamics starting from the idea of anthems: Anthems gather and represent. They bring people together under songs and lyrics spreading ideals, thoughts and memories. One anthem can travel from one period to another, from cause to cause. It can take different meanings depending on our personal experiences and backgrounds.
Minimi Dance Theater: Echo, choreography by Iiro Näkki
Kauaʻi ʻōʻō was a small bird, eager to sing with a hollow, flute-like voice. The bird was last seen in 1985, and last heard two years later. The song of the last believed specimen has been recorded and can be found in the virtual archives.
“Kaiku” is a contemporary dance piece about an echo 11,900 miles and 37 years away. Duetto dives into the story and the voice of a bird from a lost world. The movement of the piece is one of contrast − a play of light, shadow, energy and wistfulness. The visually warm piece gives room for the dancer’s skill.
Raatikko Dance Theater: Rising Star, choreography by Milla Virtanen and Jaakko Toivonen Rising Star celebrates the stardom of our own lives. The piece is an engaging performance where movement language is formed by the fusion of physical theater and dance movements. Be the star of your life, Rising Star!
Rimpparemmi Dance Theater: UrosLive, choreography by Matti Paloniemi
UrosDemo is a snapshot of the male world. It is images and moods of being and not being a man. What is a man? A man is one of the legal sexes. A man has many roles. Nothing more. UrosDemo is part of a larger all-night piece premiering in February 2025.
