A Night of Dance and Art presents two unique works that guide the viewer from the heart of artistry toward the shared breath of humanity and nature.

During the same evening, you will see Willman Dance Company’s Words with Isadora, which celebrates dance artist Jonna Aaltonen’s 30-year career, as well as Pirkanmaa Dance Centre’s Eläväksi liikutettu runo (Poetry Moved into Life), a piece sprouting from movement, words, and sound by Tuomi & working group.

Words with Isadora

Duration: approx. 50 min

What would Isadora Duncan say about today’s trends? How does aging affect artistry?

At the core of Words with Isadora is the question of an artist’s journey of expression over a long career. A performing artist of the 2020s ponders the meaning of movement and freedom of expression in contemporary dance, seeking connections to the ideas of Isadora Duncan, an innovator of dance in the early 20th century. Premiered at WAM Kilta Gallery, a completely new stage version of the work will be seen at Cruselli.

Eläväksi liikutettu runo

Duration: approx. 40 min | Age Recommendation: 12+

“We are all the same breath.”

Eläväksi liikutettu runo (Poetry Moved into Life) is a contemporary dance piece sprouting from movement, words, and sound that brings poetry to life as a bodily experience. It is a circulatory occasion that digs into the connections between movement, language, and sound, reinventing itself every moment. A trio larger than itself moves along the interfaces of dance and performance art, music, and spoken word.
