Tero Saarinen Company Breath

Tero Saarinen and accordionist Kimmo Pohjonen, take measure of each other on stage, composing a power web of sound and movement.

Live music, dance and visuals intertwine to create wild forms and mythical images – infused by Beckett-inspired existentialism and absurd humour.

The duet is further enhanced by Mikki Kunttu’s stage and lighting design, fashion designer Teemu Muurimäki’s costumes and Tuomas Norvio’s imaginative sound design.

Breath is a study of expanding the limits of artistry and the importance of truly and openly connecting with one another. In this creation, two artists with strong individual voices collide, resulting in something new, something bigger than the sum of their parts.

“Ultimately, to me, Breath is about the importance of communication and acceptance. How we try to shield ourselves and our privacy in the most absurd and comical ways, while longing for new experiences and encounters with other people” Tero Saarinen tells.

After the performance on Friday 7 June, we will hold a discussion in the Erkko Hall. Saturday 8 June will mark a special birthday performance, as we will celebrate the performers’ birthdays and raise a glass for Tero and Kimmo in Dance House’s bar!
