Dance day gala at Kulttuuritalo Martinus

Star dancers and delicacies at the International dance day gala!

The traditional Dance Day gala in Kulttuuritalo Martinus is once again a rich spread of delicacies from ballet to contemporary dance, from competitive dance to show and a touch more “ethnic” interweaving of ballet and folk dance. The program includes e.g. National Ballet performances, such as a scene from Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, choreographed by John Cranko, with dancers Hye Ji Kang and Clark Eselgroth. Rien dire is by Anna Sariolan, dancers Thomas Brun, Heidi Salminen and Viola Länsivuori.

The event will also feature Elvis & Martin Nudo’s duet The Empathy and the Neapolitan dance from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Pond, performed by Francesca Loi and Alfio Drago. The star coaches Katri Riihilahti and Matti Purro, known from the Tanssii Tähtie kenna TV format, perform Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and hot tango to the live music of a string quartet. Ethno Contemporary Ballet of Ukrainian dancers will perform a beautiful dance, Karchata, and Minna Tervamäki, with two other dancers, will perform an excerpt from her piece Heaven’s Gate. Australian Jack Traylen performs a version SE14 of Tervamäki’s popular work Something Else?

Dancers from dance schools and also surprises are expected in connection with Vantaa’s 50th anniversary. The declaration of the day of dance will be read by the artistic director of the National Ballet, Javier Torres.

The gala is organised by City Of Vantaa.
