Vertical dance performance Extracts of Hope combines circus and dance while dancing on the walls. Heidi Miikki's solo piece at Joen Yö festival in Joensuu 14.8.

The vertical dance piece Extracts of Hope is a circus work by Heidi Miikki that strives for freedom, explores courage, flies like a ninja, and climbs higher.

The piece speaks of radical and active hope, of daring to dream, and of being rebellious. The site-specific work engages in dialogue with the local architecture and environment, as movement brings the buildings to life from an entirely new perspective and highlights their unique character through gravity-defying vertical dance.

Earlier seen at e.g. Circus festival OU in Oulu and Art’s Night in Reykjavík, Extracts of Hope arrives to Joen Yö in Joensuu 14.8. at 9 pm, on the City hall tower.

Heidi Miikki is a dance and circus artist working in vertical dance, site-specific art, tightwire, and contemporary dance. In her work, she combines environmental conservation with the performing arts. She is an active core member of the contemporary circus group Acting for Climate, and has collaborated with various companies and directors in Finland and internationally for over fifteen years, as well as creating multidisciplinary solo works. In Extracts of Hope, Heidi Miikki collaborates with musician and sound designer Ilmari Tiitinen.
