Finnish, Universal? is a performance about intergenerational trauma and escaping into work.
Finnish, Universal? is a symbolic journey into the deepest layers of the mind—a comforting tale for anyone who has ever felt disappointed, failed, or messed up in life. It addresses intergenerational burdens by telling a personal story about escaping into work. The performance takes its name from the Finnish horse, a draft horse known for being hardworking and reliable.
The performance combines contemporary circus, contemporary dance, and theater. It takes place in a horse riding arena, where the earthen floor allows for wallowing in the depths of the mind.
In connection with the performance, a free workshop will be held at the Barker Theatre, where you can explore your own intergenerational burdens. You are welcome to participate in the workshop even if you do not attend the performance.
