Kauri Sorvari & working group labia

In the contemporary dance piece labia three performers bring the sensuality, poetics, and politics of kissing on stage.

In labia the tender queers reshape and play with the multiple forms and images of gender and free romantic love. The performance is a transromance that, for a moment, gets fulfilled through longing, thirst, and pleasure.

Different forms and intentions of kissing crystallize into small dances, scenes, and choreographies. In the piece, the performers fluctuate between experiencing and performing the intimate. The stage is a space where they can dare to wish, perform, and dance roles that would otherwise be unreachable, almost impossible, or are expected to be hidden.
