As part of Hutiklubi’s 10th anniversary celebrations, Hutiklubi Special Edition takes to the Pannu Hall stage together with Tsuumi Dance Theatre’s surprise guests.
What does the breakfast ritual of space hippies look like? How does a pine cone move? Have you ever heard horror reggae? Can you really request anything from the performers? This time you can!
Hutiklubi is a work created by choreographer Jukka Tarvainen for the dance group Off/Balance. It boldly and joyfully combines contemporary dance with participatory theatre improvisation and improvised live music. The performance consists of short dance scenes based on themes, styles, and qualities of movement and music suggested by the audience. The spectators thus have a significant influence on the course of the performance. The result is an interactive and entertaining, yet artistically uncompromising work that has received excellent feedback from both audiences and critics.
Premiered in summer 2015, Hutiklubi has since been performed over 100 times across Finland at events, festivals, and school tours. Its popularity stems from its joyful, distinctive approach and interactivity, as well as its flexibility to be adapted in terms of duration, venue, and target audience.
