Seliseli is a dance performance about public speaking. The choreography is created by Emmi Pennanen in collaboration with dancers Jenna Broas and Riku Lehtopolku. The soundscape, composed by Petteri Mäkiniemi, features his self-designed instrument, the Ginette.
heard last week:
“I need to ask you how you imagine this to work ___
__it is hard to believe
__ you claim many things but there is nothing to prove your point__”
an old picture:
The men regularly assemble in this hall to ponder the nature and meaning of things. They share ideas, associations, and conclusions with one another, argue, and challenge each other. Their aim is to eliminate contradictions and ambiguities. Because being convincing is important, and convincing thoughts get accepted and developed further. Truth, perfection, greatness—these are the concepts the men are working with and striving for. Through their theorizing, they reach toward boundaries and beyond, justifying why they should remain in power and why their ways are superior to any others. They never fully agree with one another. But the words of some are remembered longer than others.
