Helsinki Dance Company & Kinetic Orchestra Silence

Silence is a dance performance inspired by the presentation of classical music. The dance group forms an orchestra that resembles the tradition of classical music and strives to bring each part of the concerto to life.

Jarkko Mandelin’s latest work Silence takes his signature blend of contemporary dance, acrobatics, and various martial arts techniques in movement-focused choreography to new heights.

“Silence is a dance performance inspired by the presentation of classical music. The dance ensemble forms an orchestra reminiscent of classical music tradition and does everything to bring the parts of the concerto to life. Silence is the moment when a part of the concerto ends, the created world disappears, and preparation for the next begins.”

Jarkko Mandelin is a contemporary dance choreographer with a background in classical ballet and an internationally recognized teacher. He has developed his own distinctive style and is known particularly for his work in contemporary dance partnering techniques and floorwork.
