Helena Humm

For Helena, circus is exploration—the power of the body in all directions—and above all a way to communicate and share worlds, imaginaries, and adventures with an audience.

Axel Adler: Excerpts from Enchantments

Award-winning Swedish magician Axel Adler presents excerpts from his work Enchantments. Axel approaches magic through the language of visual theatre, and visual theatre through the lens of contemporary stage magic.

Enchantments invites us inside the magician’s mind: to linger in the charged silence before the curtain rises, witness the obsessive rhythm of practice, carry the weight of magic’s iconic imagery, and feel the world tilt when the impossible becomes briefly, brilliantly real.

Jäntti & Venna: Excerpts from Yablochkov Candle

Musician Aino Venna and circus artist Ilona Jäntti have been collaborating since 2016. Beyond traditional theatre spaces, they have created works for venues such as the Winter Garden in Helsinki. They have performed together extensively, both in Finland and abroad. Aino Venna (b. 1982) is a musician and writer based in Helsinki, whose work weaves together voice, language, mythology, and corporeality. Her current practice draws inspiration from rituals and explores the human relationship with the invisible, with shadows, and with archaic forms of knowledge.

Ilona Jäntti (b. 1980) is a circus artist and choreographer based in Helsinki. For over twenty years, she has explored the apparatus, techniques, aesthetics, conventions, and history of aerial acrobatics. Her work is often site-responsive, examining the relationships between the body, the apparatus, and the surrounding space.
