Black and White Theatre Festival presents Susanna Leinonen Company: PAIN KILLER

Pain Killer is a powerful and thought-provoking contemporary dance work that invites the audience to reflect on their own relationship with pain, vulnerability, and humanity.

Pain Killer continues choreographer Susanna Leinonen’s exploration of humanity and embodied experience. The work invites us to see pain as an integral part of life and asks what we lose when we attempt to eliminate it artificially. It reflects on alienation from our own bodies and emotions, and on how the avoidance of feelings shapes us and resonates throughout society.

The piece continues Leinonen’s long-standing collaboration with rap artist Kasperi Laine. Laine’s composition creates a pulsating, experimental soundscape, enhanced by Ville Seppänen’s video design and Teemu Nurmelin’s lighting. Sound, image, and movement intertwine to form a space that lives and breathes with the dancers.
