Tomorrow’s Ray of Shadow is Tashi Iwaoka’s new solo piece, which deals with the dark side of being human (anger, hatred, grudge) and seeks a path to a better future.

Departing from a very personal subject this work embraces human catastrophes such as wars to get in touch with the dark side within us. In order to guide it to the bright(er) side, Iwaoka takes the real story of ‘the fire of peace’ kept in Yame city, Fukuoka Japan as an ultimate metaphor of hope for peace. The story tells the transformative force towards peace carried from the aftermath of the use of A-bomb over Hiroshima. As Iwaoka has got a family tie to the event of Hiroshima, this work intertwines the personal and the universal in the performance, using movement, objects and songs to create a multi-scaled poetic journey in a black box.
