Finnish circus & dance on tour – see a show near you

This Autumn there are again lots of excellent opportunities to see Finnish circus and dance productions that are touring around Europe.

We’ve collected a selection of shows that can be seen outside of Finland in the upcoming months. You might also want to check out the performance calendar on our website from time to time to see if there are any interesting Finnish shows coming near you!

Kallo Collective’s hilarious Receptionists is starting their long Nordic tour on 15 September at Ibsenhuset in Skien, Norway. The tour covers 16 locations in Norway and Sweden, and in December there’s an opportunity to see Receptionists in Hong Kong. All Receptionists tour dates & locations can be found on Kallo Collective’s website. Another Kallo Collective production, Only Bones V1.9, can be seen at Jacksons Lane in London, UK, on the 14th of October.

Company Afterclap’s energetic circus performance Red Hot Condition also hits the Swedish roads in October and November with over 20 shows in southwestern Sweden around Gothenburg. See our website’s calendar for more information on the locations and dates.

In Denmark Baltoppen Live will present Kinetic Orchestra’s Gravity in late October with a total of three shows on 25–27 October. Close by in Germany, multidisciplinary arts company WAUHAUS are bringing their slippery Fluids to Orangerie Theater in Cologne on the 27th of September. The show is a collaboration between WAUHAUS and Estonian dance production house Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava. And speaking of the Baltics, Lumo Company’s Fineline makes an appearance in Valmiera, Latvia on 16 September.

Choreographer Sonya Lindfors’s new work One Drop can be seen during October in several venues in Norway and the UK, with performances in Oslo 14–15 October, London 20–21 October, Bergen 24–25 October and finally Glasgow 27–28 October. More information on Lindfors’s website.

At ATOLL Festival in Karlsruhe, Germany there’s an opportunity to see two Finnish circus shows. Cie Roikkuva presents their performance Empire of Fools on 15–17 September, followed by Sirkus Aikamoinen & Circus I Love You with their tent show I Love You Two on the 22nd of September.

Going further south, I Love You Two continues to southeastern France, Switzerland, and Italy. The tour will hit six locations starting 29 September in Bourg-en-Bresse and ending 24 November at Les Boréales Festival in Herouville-Saint-Claire. At Les Boréales Festival there’s also a possibility to see Blind Gut Company’s Maannos, a solo work by Tuomas Vuorinen, on the 22nd of November.

Finally, dance artists Maria Nurmela and Ville Oinonen together with choreographer Theo Clinkard will perform their work The Days at AMATA Arts Centre, Cornwall, UK on the 11th of November. Capping the year off is the legendary circus collective Mad in Finland who will appear at Théâtre Saint-Louis in Cholet, France 21–23 December.

So, a lot of great performances to be seen all over Europe, hopefully you’ll have an opportunity to catch and enjoy at least some of these!
