In February, a large contemporary circus festival and international marketing event featuring Finnish circus acts will take place in the Stockholm area.

CirkusMania is Sweden’s largest circus event, taking place on 30 different stages in the greater Stockholm area from February 9th to 20th. The festival will showcase 30 contemporary circus performances from Sweden and other countries, including Belgium, Brazil, and France.

From Finland, the festival will feature Race Horse Company’s performance, Chevalier – Hobbyhorse Circus, starring Kalle Lehto. The programme will also include the Finnish film Mad in Finland – Le Film, directed by Elice Abonce Muhonen, based on the circus performance of the same name. Muhonen will also perform in the work Muscle Pain by the French company Galapiat Cirque.

CirkusExpo 2024, a marketing event with a Nordic theme aimed at international and Swedish buyers seeking programs, will run alongside the festival. In addition to Swedish groups, various Danish and Finnish circus groups will be pitching their touring shows. Representing Finland are Blind Gut Company with the performance Maannos, Hands some Feet & Opus Company with Colorsphere, and the Sivuhenkilöt working group with their performance Bone Chamber (see Shows & Artists). Finnish groups were selected through an open call for submissions.

The professional event is open to performance venues, festival organizers, and other program-seeking presenters and agents, as well as supporters, funding organizations in the field, and media representatives. The registration deadline has already passed, but if you are interested in participating, contact Magali Bancel at Riksteatern, .

CirkusExpo 2024 is organized by Riksteatern. Circus and Dance Info Finland is a partner of the event.
