Johanna Nuutinen +Collaborators (JoNuCo) is a contemporary dance company based in Finland. The company, founded in 2016, creates works for the independent field and commissioned productions for larger institutions in Finland and internationally. Collaboration is in the heart of the company and JoNuCo´s team is always eager to find new partners and collaborators. The sensing, sensitive, poetic, and vulnerable, yet strong and virtuosic body together with innovative visual and aural worlds are at the core of the company’s artistic work.
The lead artist Johanna Nuutinen became a member of the Finnish National Ballet in 2002. There she created a successful career and danced in the soloist roles of several productions. Nuutinen started to create her own productions for cinema and stage in 2011 and in 2017 she became a full-time freelance artist.
Since 2021 Nuutinen and her team have been investigating the world of senses and sensory experiences. The SENSES series consists of works that immerse the viewer in the sphere of different senses through virtuosic motion, hypnotic visuality, and the visceral world of sound. By now they have explored the senses of sight, auditory, and touch.
