In May there are again a couple of great opportunities to meet the personnel of Circus & Dance Finland and Finnish circus professionals in Europe.
In the beginning of May, a small delegation of Finnish circus professionals led by our very own Lotta Nevalainen will be attending Circusstad Festival in Rotterdam. The participants, selected for the Circus & Dance Info Finland supported networking trip via an open call, are circus artist Merri Heikkilä (Nordic Council), circus artist Milla Länsiö, freelance director Sanna Silvennoinen and circus artist & entrepreneur Kaj-Mikael Schütt (Sirkussirkus). In addition, circus artist Liina Selvinen, executive producer Miia Pajarinen (Dance Theatre Hurjaruuth), executive producer Salla Kurronen (Cirko – Center for New Circus), circus artist / artistic director Rauli Dahlberg (Race Horse Company), managing director Sari Lakso (Kallo Collective) and artistic director Olli Vuorinen (Nuua) will be joining us on the trip.
And who knows, you might run into some other Finns as well. For example, circus artist Henri Kangas (read about Henri and the Finnish Institute UK+Ireland’s mentoring programme here) and Malin Bergström, Head of Programme at the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux, will be around.
Also in May, Circostrada’s Annual General Meeting will take place in Karlsruhe and Rastatt, Germany in the frame of ATOLL extra and Festival tête-à-tête. Lotta Nevalainen will be attending the meeting from 28 to 31 May, so if you’re also there, this is also an excellent opportunity to come say hi and hear about the latest developments in the Finnish circus scene.
