The performance of Macbeth in the Dance House Helsinki has received international attention in the prestigious The Guardian magazine. ‘It’s a beehive’, headlines the magazine, also referring to the first venue dedicated to dance in Finland.

Tero Saarinen Company’s Macbeth is an amalgamation of dance, drama and juggling. The Company joined forces with TTT Theatre, a leading Finnish drama theatre, and created a new interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic.

“Lacerating sound and lighting designs carve up the action on stage in a production that continually finds fresh perspectives on familiar scenes,” writes The Guardian. Read the article here.

Macbeth is co-directed by choreographer Tero Saarinen and theatre director Otso Kautto. The work is based on a new translation and adaptation by Michael Baran. Lighting designer of the performance is Mikki Kunttu, the costumes are by Samu-Jussi Koski, and the music and sound design by Marko Nyberg.

The premiere season of Macbeth that has aroused a great deal of international interest was at Dance House Helsinki in March 2024. Next time, it’s possible to see it at the TTT theatre in Tampere, Finland, from 12 to 28 September 2024.
