Networking trips for professionals

We organise annual networking trips, usually abroad, for Finland-based circus and dance professionals. We announce upcoming trips and open calls on our bulletin board (“ilmoitustaulu” in Finnish) and social media channels.

The goal of these trips is to provide opportunities for professionals to strengthen and build professional networks internationally, a chance to get to know more of the performing arts sector in a certain country or city, to support professional growth and to offer a chance for reflecting and learning in dialogue with colleagues in Finland and abroad.

What is a networking trip and who can apply?

Networking trips are suitable for professionals in different career stages and they offer a great way to deepen the understanding and learn more about working internationally – as this feedback from a participant shows:

Visiting the IETM plenary meeting was great, especially for knowledge sharing and exchanging ideas. During the trip, I gained a better understanding of the structures of different art organisations, but also a better understanding of how to define and perceive my own work as an artist in relation to other artists and different social structures.

The destination, content and travel plan vary between different networking trips. Professionals are selected for the trips through an open call. Applicants are encouraged to think about their own professional goals in the context of the specific trip they wish to take part in.

We’re happy to receive wishes and ideas from professionals on events, countries, cities or else they see beneficial to visit and learn more about – please feel free to contact us through email!

Previously we have organised networking trips to e.g several IETM plenary meetings in Europe, Cinars Biennale in Montreal, Na Grani Dance Festival in Yekaterinburg, Tanzmesse in Düsseldorf, Tallinn and London, Fira Tàrrega in Catalonia, Letní Letna festival in Prague, Berlin Circus festival, PAMS in Seoul and YPAM in Japan.
